What are your favourite Contemporary Worship Songs?

First of all, I don't want to start any arguments about traditional/hymns vs contemporary; for all are the songs of the bride unto the groom who is to come.

But even so, what are some of your favourite contemporary praise and worship songs written in the past 20 years that you have found to be fully God-honoring?

Here's my pick:

Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble? Delirious

Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

And we can see that God you're moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice

Did you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokeness

And here we see that God you're moving
A time of Jubilee is coming
When young and old return to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

O Praise Him (All this for our King) David Crowder

Turn your ear
To Heaven and hear
The noise inside
The sound of angels
The sound of angels' songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
"All to Christ the King!"

How constant
How divine
This song of ours will rise
Oh, how constant
How divine
This love of ours will rise
Will rise...

O praise Him!
O praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy

Turn your gaze
To Heaven and raise
A joyous noise
Oh, the sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a king
Angles join to sing
"All for Christ the King!"

O praise Him!
O praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy

How infininte and sweet
This love so rescuing
Oh how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing...

Re: What are your favourite Contemporary Worship Songs?

Here is a simple song that I privately play on the guitar, but I don't know who actually wrote it.

Purify My Heart

Purify my heart
Touch me with your cleansing fire
Take me to the cross
Your holiness is my desire

Breathe your life in me
Kindle the love
that flows from your throne

Purify my heart!
Purify my heart!

Here is another song that I like...

Heart of Worship
Matt Redmond

Verse 1
When the music fades and all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart

Bridge
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart

Chorus
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
All about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the things I've made it
When it's all about You
All about You, Jesus

Verse 2
King of endless worth, no one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor, all I have is Yours
Every single breath

Bridge
Chrous

:-)

 Re:

These are just a couple of my favorites.

Lamb Of God
Written by: Twila Paris

Your only Son, no sin to hide
But you have sent him from your side
To walk upon this guilty sod
And to become the Lamb of God

Your gift of love they crucified
They laughed and scorned Him as He died
The humble King, they named a fraud
And sacrificed the Lamb of God

O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God
I love the holy Lamb of God
O wash me in His precious blood
My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God

I was so lost I should have died
But you have brought me to your side
To be led by your staff and rod
And to be called a lamb of God

Days of Elijah
Written by: Robin Mark

These are the days of Elijah,
Declaring the Word of the Lord
And these are the days of Your servant, Moses,
Righteousness being restored
And though these are the days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert, crying,
"Prepare ye the way of the Lord!"

(Chorus)

Behold, He comes riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun, at the trumpet call
Lift your voice, in the year of jubilee
For out of Zion's hill salvation comes

These are the days of Ezekiel,The dry bones becoming as flesh
And these are the days of Your servant, David,Rebuilding a temple of praise
These are the days of the harvest,The fields are as white in the world
And we are the labourers in Your vineyard,
Declaring the Word of the Lord.

 Re:

Nothing But the Blood by Matt Redman

Your blood speaks a better word
Than all the empty claims I've heard upon this earth
Speaks righteousness for me
And stands in my defense
Jesus it's Your blood
[Chorus]
What can wash away our sins?
What can make us whole again?
Nothing but the blood
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can wash us pure as snow?
Welcomed as the friends of God
Nothing but Your blood
Nothing but Your blood King Jesus
Your cross testifies in grace
Tells of the Father's heart to make a way for us
Now boldly we approach
Not by earthly confidence
It's only Your blood
[Chorus]
We thank You for the blood
We thank You for the blood
We praise You for the blood
We praise You for the blood
Nothing but Your blood
Nothing but Your blood King Jesus

Gentle Savior
Lord I Believe
I Stand in Awe of You
Shine Jesus Shine
The Anchor Holds
Days of Elijah
Midnight Call
Lord you are Good
This is Your House
Thank You For Giving To The Lord
I Pledge Allegience to the Lamb
Go Light You Candle

I love the words in these songs of praise and also the melodies, while they are being spoken. I have a cd with these songs on it. It is a great and joy of peacefulness when I'm in route in my car to any place to have my cd playing and just sing along just me and God and I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but in prayer I just thank HIM for loving me,saving my soul and changing my heart.

These songs have not always been in my music collection but they are now along other classic gospel hymns.Christian music is the only type music I make an effort in I listening to now.

In the past, (before saved) I would listen to pop music such as ,CCR, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and also country and western music. If one were to miss out on 20 years of country and western music they could pick right up where they left off. They are still sitting in a bar somewhere, drinking beer, wine and wiskey, having heartaches and cheating on their wife and the Lord and getting ran over by the same dang old train.

Hi,

I'M AMAZED - BRETT WILLIAMS

By Your great and endless mercy, we have all been born anew
And by Your death and resurrection, You did what I could never do and…
I’m amazed, I am amazed
At what Your word tells me You did
I’m amazed, I am amazed
You gave it all so I might live
I’m amazed with You
Upon a cruel and barren hill, You willingly laid down Your will
You took my sin and stole my sorrows, from my past and my tomorrows…
(I’m amazed…)
A hero in disguise, beheld by human eyes,
A sacrifice of Love, the greatest that there ever was.
I am bound for paradise, and it is real, and it is right
To believe Your words in black and red, that You’ll come back just like You and…
I'm amazed...

I don't remember the scriptures at church the day i was saved but i remember "I'm Amazed".

THANK YOU FOR THE BLOOD - MATT REDMAN

Thank you, thank you for the blood that you shed
standing in its blessing we sing these freedom songs
thank you thank you for the battle you won
standing in your victory we sing salvation songs
we sing salvations song

you have opened a way to the father
where before we could never have come
jesus count us as yours now forever
as we sing these freedom songs

we sing of all you've done
we sing of all you've done
we sing of all you've done for us
won for us, paid for us

 Re:

Paul Wilbur - In your presence

In Your presence
That's where I am strong
In Your presence
O Lord my God
In Your presence
That's where I belong
Seeking Your face
Touching Your grace
In the cleft of the Rock
In Your presence O God

I want to go
Where the rivers
Cannot overflow me
Where my feet are
On the rock
I want to hide
Where the blazing
Fire cannot burn me
In Your presence O God

I want to hide
Where the flood of
Evil cannot reach me
Where I'm covered by the blood
I want to be where
The schemes of darkness
Cannot touch me
In Your presence O God

You are my firm foundation
I trust in You all day long
I am Your child
And Your servant
And You are my
Strength and my song
You're my song

Seeking Your face
Touching Your grace
In the cleft of the Rock
In Your presence O God
In Your presence
