The millennial reign

Did I get it all? Is this right?

Revelation 20:4 - And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

After Christ (and those with Him who didn't take the mark...) reigns the Earth for a Day (1000 years) ... The dead is again alive...after the Melinneum Age.

Revelation 20:5 - But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Acts 24:15 - And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

P.S Remember Satan again will be loosed after the Mellineum Age

Revelation 20:7 - And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

Revelation 20:8 - And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

 Re: The millennial reign

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

King James himself called this restraining "chain" The Gospel of Christ

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

This "thousand years" could mean literally "one thousand years" or a "great measure of time". If it is the latter, Satan is bound, or restrained, for a long time by the Gospel.

"For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night." (PSA 90:4)

"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (II PET 3:8)

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Christanity flourished under the European monarchs until the 17th and 18th centuries. The French, American, and Russian revolutions and two World Wars effectively nullified the power of the ruling elite. The farsightedness of the monarchs was replaced by the greed of merchants and lawyers... spiritism, astrology, psychoanalysis, evolution, etc replaced the Gospel as truth... Thus, Satan is loosed on the Earth.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

These are all the saints and martyrs of Jesus Christ who "loved not their lives unto death"; they include those who have lived, preached and died since Early Church times, today, and those who will suffer perseuction under the beast.

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

A "first resurrection" implies a "first death". This is Spirit Baptism by Fire, the spiritual death of the "old man" and the resurrection of the "new man" (symbolised and declared by water baptism). Once Baptised, the believer is immortal and lives on even after his physical body dies. Thus, the "second death", or death of the physical body, has no power.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

King James said "Gog" meant "hidden" or "hypocritical" enemies of Christ that worked against the Church from within. "Magog" means "revealed", or open enemies of God, like communists, secularists, humanists, socialists, etc.

True believers, according to the King, would be buffeted by so-called Christian hypocrites on the right and Athiestic forces on the left.

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Notice here the "Beloved City" of the elect is described as a "camp", surrounded and horribly outnumbered. Few, not many, are Christ's citizens and sons and daughters of God.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (II PET 3:10)

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

"Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." (II PET 3:13)

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

"And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." (REV 17:15)

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Whoever is Baptised dies the first death and is resurrected in newness of life. Physical death will not kill Christ's elect and hell will never hold them. Thus, they don't suffer the second death.

But those who didn't die spiritually before dying physically must die spiritually in the hereafter...

That's my take on Rev 20. I hope it helps.

 Re:

Thank you corey, God bless you. One questions though. You said that Satan is freed from his chains. Are you sure he's not chained up in heaven?

 Re:

Blessings Ilya,

Please keep in mind that the Word of God is like a flaming (REV 11:5) two-edged sword (REV 1:16). Being two-edged, it is a blessing to one man and a curse to another. Being two-edged, its thrust reveals inner, personal, spiritual truths as well as the ultimate destiny of the world and universe.

Our Lord said, "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." (LUKE 17:21)

Therefore, your first concern ought to be whether or not that Great Chain called Scripture has bound Satan from controlling your own house and temple (your body, soul, and spirit).

Jesus also prayed, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." (6:10)

He also said to His disciples, "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (MATT 18:18)

Now I may get roasted for this, but Jesus seems to be indicating that what is bound or loosed on earth is bound or loosed in heaven. And if, when His Gospel binds Satan's influence in an individual he says,

"I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance." (LUKE 15:7)

Then what's the reaction in Heaven when a saint stumbles... or billions of unsaved men and women run amok with an unchained devil reigning in their bodies, souls, and spirits...?

The first battle you ought to be concerned with is the one for your soul. Make sure that devil's chained up with scripture, prayer, and supplication... and whenever he rears his ugly head, beg the Lord to bind those chains tighter and tighter.

"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (LUKE 10:17-19)

But back to your original question:

Quote:
You said that Satan is freed from his chains. Are you sure he's not chained up in heaven?

I'll assume you are referring to this scripture:

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." (REV 12:7-10)

It's problematic to view the Book of Revelation in sequential order - it doesn't read like a novel. Many theologians have tried to formulate graphs and charts to indicate the timelines of the judgments, ie, seals, bowls, trumpets.

However, this is a spiritual, and deeply mystical book best read and meditated upon in peace and quiet with the Holy Ghost as your teacher and interpreter. If you trust Him, He will instruct you in what you need to know and when you need to know it. You needn't purchase any prophetic books, DVDs, or attend any seminars to understand it. You just need to read, meditate, pray, and wait on the Spirit to open your eyes.

That being said, I believe the key to understanding the scripture cited above, when Satan's cast out of heaven, is the next verse from the same chapter:

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (REV 12:11)

Satan was cast out of heaven at Calvary by the sacrifice of the lamb (Jesus' death on the Cross and resurrection), by their testimony (the Word of God), and by the saints and martyrs, who allowed Jesus to live, suffer, and die once again in their bodies, souls, and spirits and, thus, they shared in his triumph on the Cross.

Jesus has already won! He humbled himself as no man before Him and is exalted as God!

The Devil has lost. He exalted himself to heaven and was cast down to hell (the pit).

I say he is already loosed from his shackles because the scriptures are no longer taught in schools, your average Canadian can't name two of the Ten Commandments, most "spiritual types" read the horoscopes rather for inspiration than the Bible, the Southern Baptist Convention admits a third of it's pastors view porn regularly and a half of SBC men missionary volunteers are rejected because of regular porn use, there are over 80,000 denominations in the U.S. that can't agree on doctrine... and the name of God and His Christ are blasphemed on an hourly basis on television... And we're trashing the beautiful planet God gave us... Nukes... drugs... pollution... Gay marriage...

...and don't get me started on the churches I've personally attended...

But, the good news is, he's only got a little time left.

 Re: The millennial reign

Ilya,

Listen to Zac Poonen's take on Revelation 20.4-21.17.

Then listen to David Pawson's Revelation Series. There are ten and they are labeled clearly so you know which one you want to listen to.

I'm not saying that they are 100% correct. I don't think anyone is but they both bring views that are not presented by the organized church today that I think needs to be addressed and considered.

My conclusion (and it's not written in stone either! lol) is that we (Christians) are going either in the first resurrection (and Rev 20.4 lists the qualifications) to live and reign with Christ a thousand years or we are going in the second resurrection where we will be judged according to our works.

Because in the second ressurection it clearly says that the books will be opened ... and .... whoevers name is NOT written in the Lambs Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire.

There will be many who disagree but my conclusion is that there will be those present at the Judgment Seat of Christ whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life but yet who didn't make the first resurrection. So depending on a person's walk with Christ, they can go in the first or second resurrection.

Ilya, remember that satan will be loosed for a SHORT period of time. And I've been taught from a child about this great battle between good and evil at the end but from what I read it only takes one angel but I'll let you read it!!!! lol....

Rev 20.1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

It's all so very interesting but I don't think NONE of us will have a handle on 100% percent of it.

Good studying!!! Great topic... sorry if I got off of it a bit.

Lisa
