ON PRAYER by Robert E. Lee

This was written by Robert E. Lee after the
Civil War. It is still timely and true for

"Knowing that intercessory prayer is our
mightiest weapon and the supreme call for
all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our
people everywhere to pray. Believing that
prayer is the greatest contribution that our
people can make in this critical hour, I
humbly urge that we take time to pray- to
really pray.
Let there be prayer at sunrise, at noontime,
at sundown, at midnight-all through the day.
Let us pray for our children, our youth, our
aged, our pastors, our homes. Let us pray
for our churches.
Let us pray for ourselves, that we may not
lose the word "compassion" out of our
Christian vocabulary. Let us pray for our
nation. Let us pray for those who have not
known Jesus Christ and His redeeming love,
for moral forces everywhere, for our leaders.
Let prayer be our passion.
Let prayer be our practice."

God is looking
and longing to find;
A ready and willing
heart that says:
"Not my will, Lord;
But Thine!

Re: ON PRAYER by Robert E. Lee

Oh, that the American church today could get a hold of this message of prayer once again!! It is good to be reminded again of the importance and need of prayer.

"Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell. I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of Hell."
- C.T.Studd

"If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for."
- Charles Spurgeon

Robert E. Lee... one of my heros. "Stonewall" Jackson too. Both men of God.

oh, that these words are never forgotten!

"Prayer is not preparation for the battle, Prayer is the battle!" L. Ravenhill

God Bless You

--Mr. Matthew Henry, when he was about to expire, said to a friend, 'You have heard many
men's dying words, and these are mine: A life spent in communion with God, is the
pleasantest life in the world'.--
