Was the death of Christ necessary?

Absolutely. The just penalty for sin is
death; not merely physical but the spiritual
as well. The sacrifice of Christ was
necessity for each and every one of us.
Only the perfect, holy, righteous One
could offer up Himself as the Lamb of God
Only He who knew no sin could atone for
the sins of the world. Before there could
be resurrection and eternal life, there
has to be death to self and sin!! :-D

By God's requirement of Adam not to eat of the fruit of the tree, can we not say that the 'way of the Cross' was always in the Mind of God from the beginning, before the universe was put in place?

if the death of Christ wasn't necessary, God would have provided the necessary vehicle for what was wrought at the Cross.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at orm, but these verses show that the Cross was foreseen, and God's predetermined plan-

Act 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Act 4:28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

In your thinking [do a study on this] about this make the distinction between the way of Cross and the work of the Cross. Your Bible will read differently when you see it. It won't be simply about redemption and getting to Heavenany any longer.

well well well...you need not say any more... :-P

i was intrigued that you entertained the idea that the crucifixion of Christ was in the mind of the Father before creation...you have no idea how right you are. the Revelation does say Christ was slain from the foundations of the world.

have you any idea the implications of this Truth? :-?

Grace and Peace be ours in Jesus' Name. AMEN.

 Re:

We're talking the deep things of the wisdom
of God here. The work of the cross is
atonement and redemption; the way of the
cross is the path we must choose if we
follow Him!! ;-)
