You might enjoy this...

Saints,

I came across this quote from Octavius Winslow

"Seek high attainments in holiness. Do not be satisfied with a low measure of grace, with a dwarfish religion, with just enough Christianity to admit you into heaven. Oh, how many are thus content-satifsfied to leave the great question of their acceptance to be decided in another world, and not in this-resting upon some slight evidence, in itself faint and equivocal, perhaps a former experience, some impressions, or sensations, or transient joys, long since passed away; and thus they are content to live, and thus content to die. Dear reader, be you not satisfied with anything short of a present Christ, received, enjoyed and lived upon. Forget the things that are behind-reach forth unto higher attainments in sanctification-seek to have the daily witness, daily communion with God; and for your own sake, for the sake of others, and for Christ's sake, "Give all diligence to make your calling and election sure."

Saints,

I thoroughly recommend reading Octavius Winslow's Morning Thoughts, they are here at this link.

 Re:

Hey, now this is good stuff! The old path ways. Puritanic. Brother, this is an exceptional quote....and I say that from my heart.

Thanks!

Brother Paul

p.s. I was so impressed that I decided to sample some of the December thoughts you linked...and I am absolutely floored. This is superb, brother! It is first rate devotional material, totally pure. This is in the same league with Payson, in my humble opinion. I need to print this out for deeper study and meditation -- especially December 7. What reverence, what spiritual delicacy. I would have loved to have heard this brother preach.

 Re:

Saints,

After reading BrokenOne's post about "Of what value is all our knowledge of the truth" by Octavius Winslow, I thought I would bring this back to the front page. His writings are superb! I really encourage you all to check them out.

 Re:

MORNING THOUGHTS, or
DAILY WALKING WITH GOD

DECEMBER 1.

“He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.” Malachi 3:3

“Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the refiner.” Proverbs 25:4

MARK the great and glorious end of this fiery process—a righteous offering to the Lord; and a vessel formed, prepared, and beautified for the Refiner; a “vessel unto honor, meet for the Master’s use.” Blessed result! Oh the wonders wrought by the fire of God’s furnace! Not only is “God glorified in the fire,” but the believer is sanctified.

Thank You Bro. Murdog for introducing this site to me...

 Re:

Coffee,

Actually I think it popped up on the random article section with a quote and I decided to delve further into his writings. I was blown away and most humbled, I mean so much revelation was bestowed to this saint. What communion he must have had with Jesus!
