Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated
By: Frances Havergal

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is thine own;
It shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee.

 Re: Post your favorite Hyms here.

The secret's out. CE4 years ago I discovered that the old hymns are like letters from our Godly ancestors, preserved for us to strengthen us on our way.

I always am amazed that the hymns written even as far back as the 1600's carry the message that they struggled with the same sins as we and that we are saved from God's wrath only through Jesus.

As a child I often heard my Grandmother sing this quietly to herself:

Bartlett 1800's

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't
To me the victory.

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory.

O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

IntheLight, my equally favorite is In the Garden

Amen, they are so very good.

I think I'd have to say I have two favorites that come to mind right off - though I love most.

"It is well with my soul." and "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

Oh, and one more, "I need Thee" every hour - most precious Lord .....

'Thank you' for this thread.

and I have to post my late Mother's favorites

Scriven(lyrics) and Converse(music) 1800's

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

and her other favorite ONE DAY I'll try to find the words to and post:

O Teach Me What It Meaneth
Lucy A. Bennett, 1850-1927

O teach me what it meaneth, That cross uplifted high,
With One, the Man of Sorrows, Condemned to bleed and die!
O teach me what it cost Thee To make a sinner whole;
And teach me, Saviour, teach me The value of a soul!

O teach me what it meaneth, That sacred crimson tide,
The blood and water flowing From Thine own wounded side.
Teach me that if none other Had sinned, but I alone,
Yet still Thy blood, Lord Jesus, Thine only, must atone.

O teach me what it meaneth, Thy love beyond compare,
The love that reacheth deeper Than depths of self-despair!
Yes, teach me, till there gloweth In this poor heart of mine
Some feeble, pale reflection Of that pure love of Thine.

O teach me what it meaneth, For I am full of sin,
And grace alone can reach me, And love alone can win.
O teach me, for I need Thee, I have no help beside—
The chief of all the sinners For whom the Saviour died?

O Infinite Redeemer! I bring no other plea;
Because Thou dost invite me I cast myself on Thee.
Because Thou dost accept me I love and I adore;
Because Thy love constraineth, I'll praise Thee ever more!

The Devil doesn't like it 'cause I went to my neighbor's,
There I planted precious seed.
He is all upset because I left his dominion,
And talked to someone else in need.

And that's all right,
Yes, my Lord, That's all right.
The Devil doesn't like it
And that's all right.

repeat once

The Devil has been fighting me with ramp and with fury,
He doesn't want me to succeed.
He has come to stop my soul from getting to glory,
And helpin' some one else in need.

The Devil doesn't like it that Babel is burning,
It's burning up just like the chaff.
And he is so dicouraged 'cause the Saints are returning,
Back into their home, at last.

The Devil doesn't like it 'cause I'm dwellin' in Zion,
In the blessed Holy Land.
He can't stand to see the Lamb lay down with the Lion,
Together, for the Truth, they stand.

Hearken to the blessed sound,
Babylon is falling down.
Be ye captives at the sound of Jesus' word.
Yes, to Sodom bid goodbye,
Flames are dropping from the sky,
Let the Holy Fire from Heaven fall on her.

Let the fire fall on her.
Oh, let the fire fall on her.
'Till nothing more be left,
Of every human sect.
Let the Holy Fire from Heaven fall on her.

Though she's dressed so very well,
Paints her face like Jezebel,
Though she's decked with many precious stones and pearls,
She's a dragon underneath,
Clothed in garments of a sheep,
Let the Holy Fire from Heaven fall on her.

Though she says there will appear,
A fictitious thousand years,
Her deceptions are exposed by Jesus Word.
Cast your "Rapture" books away,
And say goodbye to Tim LaHay,
Before the Holy Fire from Heaven falls on her.

Sister, do not be decieved,
Every human structure leave,
And all her 'rich and famous' prophets now desert.
Bid all 'teenage angst' "adieu",
Woman, thou wilst surely lose,
Since the Holy Fire from Heaven falls on her.

God of all-consuming Love,
Rend the Heavens high above,
Come reward her with the plagues that she deserves.
Shower fire, let her burn,
Over-, Over-, Overturn,
Let the Holy Fire from Heaven fall on her.

"Amazing Grace"

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That sav’d a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev’d;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ’d!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis’d good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call’d me here below,
Will be forever mine.

 Re: Post your favorite Hymns here.

I need Thee, precious Jesus,
For I am full of sin;
My soul is dark and guilty,
My heart is dead within.
I need the cleansing fountain
Where I can always flee,
The blood of Christ most precious,
The sinner’s perfect plea.

I need Thee, precious Jesus,
For I am very poor;
A stranger and a pilgrim,
I have no earthly store.
I need the love of Jesus
To cheer me on my way,
To guide my doubting footsteps,
To be my strength and stay.

I need Thee, precious Jesus,
I need a friend like Thee,
A friend to soothe and pity,
A friend to care for me.
I need the heart of Jesus
To feel each anxious care,
To tell my every trouble,
And all my sorrows share.

I need Thee, precious Jesus,
I need Thee, day by day,
To fill me with Thy fullness,
To lead me on my way;
I need Thy Holy Spirit,
To teach me what I am,
To show me more of Jesus,
To point me to the Lamb.

I need Thee, precious Jesus,
And hope to see Thee soon,
Encircled with the rainbow
And seated on Thy throne.
There, with Thy blood bought children,
My joy shall ever be,
To sing Thy praises, Jesu,
To gaze, O Lord, on Thee.
