 Carlton Pearson on Dateline NBC...

Hello...

Tonight, I recorded Dateline NBC. It contained an interesting story about Carlton Pearson. You might remember Carlton Pearson from his days on TBN. He is a graduate of Oral Roberts University, and it was even "prophesied" by Oral Roberts that the "next great move of God" would happen amongst "black people" -- of which "God said" that Carlton Pearson would be a leader.

However, a few years ago, Carlton Pearson began preaching what he calls the "gospel of inclusion." In a nutshell, Carlton Pearson stated that "God told him" that since Christ's death on the cross, no one ever goes to Hell. This not only includes Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc..., but also people like Hitler, Stalin, Darwin, and Nero. According to Pearson, Hell is simply experienced here in life. Heaven, on the other hand, is for every person -- no matter their beliefs, unbelief or conduct.

Needless to say, Pearson was eventually rejected by other preachers. His congregation shrank from thousands to about a hundred. As a result, he lost his church building about six months ago. He began to preach at "progressive" congregations, including homosexual congregations. His congregation recently began meeting on Sunday afternoons at a Tulsa area Episcopalian church building.

Strangely, the program tonight was very sympathetic toward Pearson, his doctrine and his subsequent rejection. It seems that more and more people are beginning to paint Christians as extremists for beliefs in such doctrines as the existence of Hell, eternal retribution, the depravity of homosexuality and other forms of sexual immorality, etc...

Anyway, here is a link to Pearson's website and belief in the "doctrine of inclusion:"

 Re:

I have a WOW Gospel CD ('98) that has Carlton Pearson on it. It's sad to see what has happened to him. He is so deceived and seems to be going on feelings instead of truth.
