"The Gospel of the Kingdom" by George E. Ladd 5 out of 5 stars. In a pastoral way, New Testament theologian and scholar George Ladd takes readers through the New Testament, closely examining what the Scriptures have to say about the gospel of the kingdom of God that was proclaimed beginning with John the baptist, Jesus, and the apostles.Ladd keeps his approach simple. He is not so much looking to interact with other theologians and scholars (though he does when necessary), but is looking to really set forth and preach what he believes the gospel of the kingdom to be.Ladd shows the "tension" in the Scriptures regarding what they say about the kingdom. He shows how the kingdom of God is present in the here and now, but how it also awaits full consumation in the Age to come. It is already here, but not yet. In doing such, Ladd shows in what way the kingdom of God is currently here, and what it has accomplished in the present, and what it will accomplish yet in the future. This is a great book that I cannot recommend highly enough.
