Prayer for job/finances

I am askaing for prayer. I have been unemployed since Jan 5th, 2006 and God has been faithful and we have not had to "beg for bread". I am in the process of having my final interviews with a Christian College where I live to work in their IT dept. I am asking for prayer that God's will would be done and that the last two interviews would go well.

As a result of being unemployed for the past 6 months, finances have been ridiculious, trying to decide what when went to pay a bill, this or that. You know what I mean.

Please keep me in prayer as we manager our budget, finances, bills, and this up-coming job interview. The work will be great and the job will help, but we will still be short so I am seeking the Lord as to what is going on.

Thanks for your prayers!
Serving the King,
Doug R.

Doug
Don't know you but do know your circumstances quite well by experience. Here is a practical suggestion for you to do while you wait for your interview and the pending result.

Hire yourself.

By that I mean start a business.

Doesn't have to be much, people need help with many things today or would be willing to pay someone to do it for them. You have experience with something, advertise and do that for others who can't do it or are to busy to do it themselves.

I have had a great idea(I think it is great) for an easy business people would want and would work well in a large city like yours.

PM me if you would like to hear it.
Don't want to give it out to the whole world

 Re: Prayer for job/finances

Hi Doug,
I will be praying for you brother. I am in a simular circumstance. I have been off with an injury and am awaiting an appointment with a specialist.
I trust that God will give you favor in these last two interviews brother. I trust that He will give you this job.
In the darkest times I meditate on two verses. The bible says that if a man does not work he shall not eat and also, a man who does not provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. So, if God's word is truth (which I am confident it is) than in order to bring Him the honour and glory He is deserving of, He needs to bless our job searching efforts. God says He will bless the diligent. For the sake of His church and it's power in this world, He will grant us both gainful employment.
As my two year old daughter prays before each meal... "God is good, God is great, thank you for this food". God is good and He is a great and He will supply our every need.
Bless you,
Kevin

 Re:

Doug,

My family is in a very similar circumstance and it's because that the Holy Spirit wants to purge this self-sufficient spirit. In America, we love to say we're trusting Jesus but oftentimes we're trusting our own wisdom or expertise (our money, credit, etc.) and it's been quite painful as the Lord has been dealing with me on this. It's only painful because I've been resistant to give it up. We will trust Jesus as our sufficiency in a very real way? At least that's the question that is being asked of me.

I was reminded of part of Matthews 6 as I read your post (and I posted it below). So my "job" is simply to seek Jesus first and His righteousness and then He will take care of everything. I pray that you allow this experience to fully trust Him with everything because Jesus wants to carry you Doug. His arm is not too short to save.

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Blessings to you Doug. We want to hear a praise report after Jesus steps in and delivers you.

 Re: Prayer for job/finances

Doug,
May God meet your need, according to His riches in Glory, by Christ Jesus.
Most likely, all of us have been in similar circumstances, but God is faithful.
His Word is True.
Just keep on praying, until Light shines through. If you are supposed to have this Job, no devil in hell can keep you from getting it.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
Praise God for Jesus Christ.
