Online! | Re: | | Dr. Stephen Olford, respected preacher and author, recently stated, "Over the last ten years the Church in America has, perhaps, been at its most prayerless state, more than at any other time in the history of our nation!" Polls agree: Evangelical pastors pray an average of only 5 minutes a day and Christians pray only 3 minutes a day. The result is that the Church in America has a form of godliness, but is void of real power. Hence the connection: No Prayer! No Presence! No Power! _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

Online! | Re: | | Prayer is the main line that leads straight to the throne of God. By it the Christian approaches God with a humble boldness of faith, takes hold of Him, wrestles with Him, and will not let Him go until he has His blessing. -William Gurnall _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

Online! | Re: | | Secular reason sees a Christian on his knees and laughs at the feeble posture God's child assumes as his enemies descend upon him. Only divine insight can perceive what mighty preparations are actually taking place. Yet just as an unarmed soldier cannot achive the military exploits of a well-equipped infantryman, so the carnal Christian cannot hope to do the exploits for God which the committed Christian can expect through prayer. -William Gurnall _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

Online! | Re: | | His (Elijah's) Prayers have the power to stay the benignant course of nature. He stands in God's stead in this matter. The sober, passionless, unimaginative James, the brother of our Lord, in his Epistle, says to us: "See what prayer can do, by Elijah! Pray as Elijah prayed. Let the righteous man put forth to its fullest extent the energy of prayer. Let saints and sinners, angels and devils, see and feel the mighty potencies of prayer. See how the prayer of a good man has power and influence, and avails with God!" Elijah was in Elijah's praying. The whole man, with all his fiery forces, was in it. Almighty God to him was real. -E.M. Bounds _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon
