This morning as I was spending time with the Lord, a little song that is familiar to most of you began to rise out of my heart to the Lord. The song was "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus."
Right on the heels of this song a scripture came to me in Hebrews "Looking unto Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith."
One of the benefits of fixing our eyes on Jesus is that we are fulfilling the ultimate purpose of God for our lives, and that is to be conformed to the image and likeness of our Lord.
" Yet truly, all of us, as we gaze upon the unveiled glory of the face of the Lord, are transfigured into the same image, from one glory to another. And this is done by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3:18).
There are so many distractions in life that we are faced with as believers. The cares of this world will choke the Word of God making it unfruitful if we allow them to have a place in our hearts. The only solution is to continuously throughout the day to turn our eyes upon Jesus, setting our minds are those things that are above, and meditating on His Word that is Spirit and life to those that find it.
"O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. Through death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; O’er us sin no more hath dominion— For more than conqu’rors we are! His Word shall not fail you—He promised; Believe Him, and all will be well: Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace."
