I have tried so hard to 'fit in' with people in the church when i should be following the Lord at all cost seeking Him not man. I have always hated being different but thats it i don't thnk i've ever truely fitted in anywhere. I strive for something that doesn't really exsist...does that make sense?

It is always stern stuff and takes a bit of getting used to, but every day's contains something to nurture the Christian life. Apart from the extremely quotable punchline, I am always struck by the end of the first paragraph. I cannot claim that my circumstances were changed in 2 seconds, but, it takes less than 2 seconds to enter into worship and [i]that's[/i] what changes the circumstance - God's presence in it.
(December 18th) THE TEST OF LOYALTY
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God." Romans 8:28
It is only the loyal soul who believes that God engineers circumstances. We take such liberty with our circumstances, we do not believe God engineers them, although we say we do; we treat the things that happen as if they were engineered by men. To be faithful in every circumstance means that we have only one loyalty, and that is to our Lord. Suddenly God breaks up a particular set of circumstances, and the realization comes that we have been disloyal to Him by not recognizing that He had ordered them; we never saw what He was after, and that particular thing will never be repeated all the days of our life. The test of loyalty always comes just there. If we learn to worship God in the trying circumstances, He will alter them in two seconds when He chooses.
Loyalty to Jesus Christ is the thing that we "stick at" to-day. We will be loyal to work, to service, to anything, but do not ask us to be loyal to Jesus Christ. Many Christians are intensely impatient of talking about loyalty to Jesus. Our Lord is dethroned more emphatically by Christian workers than by the world. God is made a machine for blessing men, and Jesus Christ is made a Worker among workers.
The idea is not that we do work for God, but that we are so loyal to Him that He can do His work through us - "I reckon on you for extreme service, with no complaining on your part and no explanation on Mine." God wants to use us as He used His own Son. |

Just thought I would throw in my two cents. I have gone through and continue to experience some of what you are all talking about. I hope it brings comfort to you and any other as they seek the face of the One who loves them and gave Himself for them...
As I was going through some severe trials from those closest to me in the Body, I would ask the Lord about it and "Why, Lord?"
He reminded me of Zechariah 13:6.
"And one shall say unto him, "What are these wounds in thine hands?"
Then he shall answer, "Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends."
This is ministry. This is the definition of ministry. It's what happens as we minister to the One that was wounded for us and in turn minister to those around us and rwach out to the lost around us. We are wounded.
I must constantly be reminded that I am not greater than my Master. I will be treated the same way He was and still is, especially by those in the 'house of my friends."

We often spend a lot of time and effort in trying to improve the vessel which God has specifically chosen. A clay jar is not a random happening; processes have been at work for some time. The amazing thing is that God choses such 'clay jars' and not because the high class china versions are not available. God's choices are extraordinary;Quote:
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Sometimes his 'clay jars' are our circumstances. Oswald Chambers commented about the way that God put us in families. Sometimes we think, if I was only in another family or another town it would be different; not if God chose this family or town! Natural families often throw up the same kinds of characters, or characters which irritate each other. The temptation is to think I could be a far better Christian in another family or another church. Maybe? I note that God took Jacob to the only man who could out-Jacob him! (Laban) Sometimes the ugly clay jar of our circumstance is hand-crafted by a loving Father who knows what He is about.
SermonIndex is a great family but it has the disadvantage that you can log out when the going gets rough. Our natural families and our home church families are usually more difficult to get out of. He knows where He has placed us with finger tip precision. God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. (Psa. 68:6, KJVS)
