 Unity and Revival Examples help please!

Hello All,

The Lord has laid a message for unity in the body of Christ on my heart to share with the different Christian groups on my university campus, right now I am writing on how unity is key to God's blessing in revival (Psalm 133, Acts 2:42-46)

However I am having trouble of finding examples of where unity across denominations and in believers sparked revival though I know there are many examples

It would be helpful if someone could point me to a few good examples on this!

THANKS

In Christ
Evangel

"right now I am writing on how unity is key to God's blessing in revival"

I would listen to brother Carter Conlons message on this site titled ministers of laciviousness. He says that the unity movements today are tied in with false revivals and not true revival.

 Re:

Hey sorry,

I am a believer who has been saved from a life of sin and addiction to pornography and God has laid this message for unity on my heart, if you think this is heretical can you please explain why it is?

AW Tozer and Bill Mcloaod and many other ministers also have srmons on this subject are they heretical and false revivalists as well?

MAny verses I have come across in the bible emphasize this importance

Eph 4:3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Philipians 2:2
make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

John 17
0 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

I remember there was a message by Ben Crandall at Time Square Church where he (a pentecostal) and a Baptist when on a mission together and some miracle occurred. I forgot where it is but I'll try to find it. It was amazing!

 Re:

I do not think it is heretical, I was just relaying a message that I heard yesterday from brother Conlon. I did not mean it as an attack or anything, so sorry if it sounded that way. I thought it might be worth listening to as a balance against extremes and error. He used the laughing revivals as a testimony of false unity if that clears anything up and gives you an idea where he was coming from. We are unified in Christ dear brother or sister! There is a true unity for sure and those are beautful words of Jesus you shared! God bless you if you are desiring true intimate unity with your brothers and sisters.

Also, it is hard to really talk about true unity in todays sick christendom that is built on denominations and godless institutions - schisms in the body. Christs words were for His elect and for a New Testament style church - not what we have today. That is why there is so much confusion, the goal posts are moved if you will so we have to try and shove unity into this unscriptural church scene and it often leads to false unity.

I guess one question is - will you seek to be unified with the mormons in your area to help bring in this revival? That is an honest question - where do we draw the line? One more thing to consider is we are living in the great falling away. Like in Jeremiahs day, right before Babylon ravaged them. Though hand joined in hand they did not go unpunished. Unity must be in truth otherwise it is a lie. Just some thoughts, sorry again if you took my first post wrong.

God bless -Jim

 Re:

Also - there is a message on this site by Paul Washer titled regeneration and true christian unity. Powerful and he talks about a time in peru when an old Nazarine lady hid him in her basement from terrorists. Tear jerker for sure.

Still, it must be said that if Gods elect would repent of taking part in mans kingdoms (denominations) this issue would be much easier to address. Jesus did not die for the baptist or nazarine church. He did not die to build those names. Men did these things in disobediance to Christ. It is the same carnal behaviour seen in Corinth on a grand scale. The very foundation is faulty, though God surely works in spite of our faults that is no reaon to continue in disobeying him.

On this site, click on the box that says "Speakers" and find "Ben Crandall". Click "Go" and find the sermon called "Eternity, Eternity, Eternity." It was in an excerpt of this sermon that he talked about it I believe.

 Re:

In John chapter 17 Jesus prayed for the unity of His body of disciples and how they should be one in Him. I believe this is still the heart of God even though there is a call for unity amongst many worldly denominations that is not pleasing to God.

I believe there should be a cry for the unity of the body of Christ that will result in a true revival that is contending for the faith that was given once for all at Pentecost to the saints of God. We should be about unity for the restoration of the original message given to the New Testament church. We should never strive for unity for the sake of unity alone but only that it is pleasing to God and exalts the Lord Jesus and His pure and undefiled Word. Jesus says that we are in the world but we are never to be of the world.

Ephesians 4:1-7 (KJV)
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

John 17:11-26 (KJV)
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
