Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."
It is power!
And I testify to that power and saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am a 22 year old and have a real background of media addiction: pornography, TV, anime series, TV series, games (MMOS, you name it).
Especially in the world of gaming. It was something I built my reputation on. I pursued it in such a way that I wanted to be recognized in it.
But like everything else in this world, its pleasure is but fake and passing, never satisfying, only driving you more hungry and hungry each time. That, "Just one more time and I know I'll be satisfied." Or that, "This is probably that last MMO game I'm going to play." It never came to that.
I'd spend hours upon untold hours, years building up characters in fantasy worlds, thinking it's helping me but all it did was help me become more lost, confused, hungry, and without purpose.
But man...Jesus Christ meant it when He said, "If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!"
And it didn't come overnight for me. But that doesn't mean it has to. This is the truth: Deliverance is 100% in Jesus. No matter what anyone says, that's what the Word of God says. You are free indeed.
Here's a piece of encouragement, in the words of another but applies to me so much: It didn't take me 5 minutes to get into this and I don't think it'll take me 5 minutes to get out.
I would love to say that I got rid of everything overnight, but the fact that God would be so patient me that if only I started walking and trusting Him that He would shed off layers after layers of addictions and abuse.
And how He would surround me with people who literally love the CRAP out of me."
That's Jesus. His power to save, it's nothing like any other.
And that's why I'm proud to call Him my Father. :)
"For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life."
This is exactly what Jesus died for. True life and freedom from sin and the life that is bent on going to hell.
We can give you all sorts of verses, link you to oh so many verses, but honestly, it's between you and your Father.
And guess what? He's more than willing to help you out of it. Friend, if He saved me (I never believed He could. Never thought it possible. But that's the truth: What is impossible with man is possible with God!), what makes you any different? :D
Sin is sin. Jesus Christ dealt with sin on the cross.
Hallelujah! May God meet you as you pray and seek God's face. His glory will eclipse every thing that is not of His.
Jesus loves you bro! And He will not let you go.
