 Re:

Brothers and Sisters,

1 Tim. 2:8-10
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. [9] In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; [10] But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Peter 3:1-5
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; [2] While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. [3] Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; [4] But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. [5] For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

If we look at both portions of scripture it is evident that Peter is simple reinforcing what Paul had taught earlier. He meant exactly what he said it has nothing to do with custom he was speaking of costly array or the putting on of (costly) apparel.
This all has to do with the spirit of meekness Paul refers to it as “women professing godliness with good works.”
We need to simply accept God’s word as it is given, meekness and good works will go far in witness for our Lord in this age we are living in. Modesty, Modesty, Modesty looks beautiful
upon the children of the Lord.:-)
