 Re: The Davidic approach

“In it one reads the Messiah.”

I think I have got it.
Mr. Sparks said in his “The School of Christ” that there is a world of difference between learning Christ and learning of him.
The one is life reproduced. The other is acquiring data.

Most of what we do in our churches comes in this category of knowledge acquired. Therefore it is unattractive. Many are drawn to this realm like in many of the treads to be seen at this site.
But the revelation of Christ in us comes in a different way.

I think I have come across an open secret. . . .

 Re: Intercessors Network

Lars put's out a newsletter that is .. well, a newsletter is really a poor choice of words. Not news of the sort one would be used to hearing.

If you are interested, ask to be added to it here:

 Re:

I just found this in Austin-Sparks' Union with Christ:
Becoming a Christian is something far more than adopting a set of doctrines and teachings and theories and ideas, practices and forms.
It is coming into a new world, a strange, to us faraway, world, for which we have naturally no capacities at all. They all have to be given to us, and we have to start all over again, learning new ideas."

 The Network

Thank you, Mike, for a very interesting connection. . .

My first letter from the Network was about churches and their struggle for the upholding of the Biblical mandate to defend the poor and needy.

I am very interested in the African scene and in prayer

What do you really think when you read through an item of this kind?

I think it is the true Christian experience, as we go on in God.

We start off with a freshness and simplicity, marked with true love, joy, and victory.

As we acquire knowledge, we get proud, puffed up, and believe that our doctrinal stance is the answer to the plight of the world, and Christendom.

We then figure out that our doctrines, however true they may be, do not deliver us, nor give us the power we thought they would.

Then we simply get on our face, admitting our powerlessness in ourself to do anything, and crying out to God for His grace, and the filling of His Spirit on a moment by moment basis.

Re: what Amazing content in the Psalms!

I have never before been so aware of the rich devotional and prophetic content in the Psalms. After reading this article, I will always have a deeper awe for the Psalms.

I realize that we can only glean the full truth from them when we have been transformed in our inner being and have a Davidic heart.
That which is already Davidic answers to that which is Davidic

Here are some points that I gleaned from this article.

The Davidic approach:

-stems from a heart that is tuned according to the heart of God
-The Davidic approach belongs to the threshing floor. -No chaff, only good grain of wheat ready to fall into the ground to die and to bear fruit in its own time, after its own kind.

-settles for that which expresses itself in terms of kindness and goodness
-What is Davidic is intrinsically Messianic.
-Through it one learns Christ
-is brought to the obedience of the Messiah
-contains the Messianic hope in every conceivable aspect
-Mercy, covenant grace
-for the handling of the opposition and the pressure to be endured in the times of the Messiah.

-does not generalise
-cannot accept any attempt to trivialise
-leaves no room for generalisation or over-simplification

-learns integrity
-a matter of “one thing only

-Deep unto deep is calling for the formation of a Davidic heart in the days of the Messiah.

 Re: The Davidic Approach:

Ps 132:4-5

4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes,
no slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the LORD,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."

Isa 55:1-5
1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.

4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of the peoples.

5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations that do not know you will hasten to you,
because of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor."

 Re:

The Davidic text “contains the Messianic hope in every conceivable aspect. . .”
This would mean that I am allowed to read my needs and my expectations into the text, to use the texts as an expression of what I cannot express. And then allow the Lord to come to my deliverance as He sees fit.

The Davidic text is meant “for the handling of the opposition and the pressure to be endured in the times of the Messiah”.
This must mean that in the End time the reading and applying of the psalms will hold a prophetic dimension. The psalms become my interpretation of what is happening to me as I stand in the gap. They become my help as to understanding and handling the pressure.

 Re:

Intercessors Network is a fantastic resource machinery when it comes to prayer and spiritual reading.
Try it. . .
It costs nothing, but it is quite expensive.
No money involved, liberating indeed.
But you have to work in prayer.
