Audio Sermons : ~Other Speakers G-L : David Legge :

A Spirit of Apathy by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Romans 9:1-3
Description: Pastor Legge begins with some very sobering stories about the apathy that is rampant in the world today and also sadly in the hearts of those that are His church. The spirit of apathy could, according to a leading scholar, be the very thing that brings our society and that the epitaph of our society will be "This society died because it just couldn't be bothered". This spirit is seeping into the church and we see the contrast between it and that man of God the Apostle Paul. He shows how we will not be able to win souls until we have wept for souls and our own apathy has been nailed to the Cross.

A Time To Cry by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Psalm 74
Description: "A Time To Cry" - a time to cry. Solomon said in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 and verse 4: 'There is a time to weep, and there is a time to laugh; there is a time to mourn, and there is a time to dance'. In some quarters of the church there is a great emphasis today on laughing and on dancing. Today it seems that the church, God's people, sleep instead of weep. They are merry instead of mourning. I do not believe that the church today, especially in the West, is living in a day of laughter and in a day of rejoicing. They might feel themselves to be, they might have been spellbound like those in Galatians chapter 3, where Paul could say to them: 'Who hath bewitched you', who has cast this spell, hypnotised you into believing something as it is not? I believe that, for the child of God today, our day should be a day of weeping and a day of mourning. I believe that it is a time to cry.

At Ease in Zion by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Amos 6:1
Description: 'Woe to those that are at ease in Zion!' is the cry that goes out from Amos the prophet of God to the people of God, here in Amos the people of God were even looking for the coming of the Lord, like the church today, and yet Amos says @woah to you!' Pastor Legge puts forward the frightening but necessary question can we be sure of our salvation and walk with God if we are at ease with a dormant church and a dying world all around us. Have we forgotten that the Gospel is an offence and a stumbling block and shouldn't be sugar coated in order to administer to people, we are to be about our Fathers business like our Lord, David just before he slew Goliath asked the terrified men around him 'Is there not a cause?'

Getting Back To the Bible by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Nehemiah 8:1-18
Description: Here in Nehemiah is Biblical account of a revival. Pastor Legge shows that in all revivals there are 2 key elements: 1) Straight preaching ot the Word of God, 2) Obedience from the people of God. He shows that during revival we can see 5 five key stages, the first is that the people in the revival read they're Bibles avidly, second they understand what the Word of God is saying to them, third they obey the commandments of the Lord, fourth lost truths are recovered and obeyed both in form and principle. Finally the people of God will rediscover strength and endurance for the work of God because 'the joy that is the Lord's is their strength.'

O Sleeper Arise by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Jonah 1:6
Description: Jonah here is asleep in the boat and ignorant of the need of those around him, this is picture of the majority of the church (espescially in the West) today. We are asleep to the needs of the world all around us who are second by second plummeting into a lost eternity without the very Light that we hold. Pastor Legge tells how only 1% of the total money donated to missions goes to the nations where the majority of people have not even heard the name of Christ, but 87% goes to already evangelised and, so called, christian countries. He shows how we have turned the Great Commision on it's head as again only 1% of the total money donated to missions goes to the evangelism of the Jewish people. Christ has purchased with His own blood the very vaccine that this sin sick world needs and yet we who have it seem so reluctant to administer the cure. When will the sleeping giant that is the Church arise from her slumber?

 Revival by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Psalm 85:4-7, 2 Chronicles 7:14
Description: Revival, says David Legge, 'is a message that burns on my heart continually...Revival is God's norm.' Because revival has been 'one of the greatest stimulants' in his Christian life, the message is marked by stirring accounts of the past--Lewis, Wales, China and others. Legge cries out against the sins of evangelicalism and unbelief, causing to search if we truly be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Revive Thy Work by David Legge

Topic:
Description: In part 6 of our look at the book of Habakkuk we begin Habakkuk's psalm (chapter 3). We see the prophet plead with God: 'Revive Thy work!'. We often plead in prayer for revival - why does revival not come? Why does it seem that God does not revive His work? Join with as Pastor Legge examines these questions...

The Cry From Hell by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Luke 16:27,28
Description: There is a Cry that eminates from the very pit of Hell that can be summed up in 2 words, 'Send!.. lest'. Those that are eternally damned cry that God would Send believers out into the harvest, Lest their own loved ones should join them in the pit. Pastor Legge shows how we need to have a deep compassion for the world around us.a dn also how we need to travail in prayer with almighty God until we prevail. the question remians do we have the 'Ear of faith' to hear the Cry from Hell?

The Great White Throne Judgement by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Revelation 20 11-15
Description: Here in Revelation is a court room like no other, there is a Judge, but no jury, no plea, no bargaining, no defense attorney, only judgement. The great white throne mentioned here is great because of the Great Judge that sits upon it, He is the the Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lord Jesus Himself. The throne is white because of the purity of Him who sits upon it who cannot even look upon sin His eyes are so holy. In this passage we hear of His face from whom everything, even the great expanse of the cosmos flees away, except for the unrepentent sinnner before Him. Here at the great white throne everything will be revealed even down to the idle words they spoke, the fearful thing about this court room is that after the judgement there is only eternal Hell.

The Outtakes of the Passion of the Christ by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Isaiah 53
Description: In the movie the Passion of the Christ there are certain omissions, aspects of the story that were not so much as taken out but never intended to be in the movie it's these 'outtakes' are fundamental to the whole Gospel though. Pastor Legge gives 5 points that are missing: 1. The true identity of the central Character is missing, nowhere is it revealed that Jesus is the Son of God 2. The film doesn't reveal who is actually responsible for His death, that it was me and you and my sin and yours that were responsible for His death it also doesn't show His Father laying the sin of the whole world on the shoulders of His Son. 3. There is no difference in His death and anyone else who was crucified, we don't see that His physical suffereings were the least of His sufferings compared to the Seperation from His Father which was the true redemptive factor. 4. There is no sequel, the main thrst of the film is focused on His death but without His resurrection (which is only a tiny feature) then His death is meaningless. 5. There is no guidance as to how to respond, the film omits that the correct response is to repent of our sin which sent Him to the cross.

The Wisdom of A Master Soul-Winner by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 9:15-23
Description: In this sermon Pastor Legge shows how Paul was a master soul winnner, and illustrates the methods he used. Paul was a man wholely devoted to Christ and His gospel even to the point where he would refuse to be supported by the christians around him so that none could say that he preached the gospel for any other reason than to glory Christ his Lord. He was a man who chose to become 'all things to all men that he might win some' enslaving himself so that he could reach more and more diverse peoples than anyone else at the time. A man who was utterly consumed by the necessity to preach the gospel.
