Audio Sermons : Denny Kenaston :  (Godly Home) Part 20 - Father is a Watchman

(Godly Home) Part 20 - Father is a Watchman by Denny Kenaston

Topic: Godly Home Series
Scripture(s): Nehemiah 1:3-4, Psalm 101:2-4
Description: "The father is the Nehemiah of the house", brother Denny cautions, the one to raise up the wall of biblical standards to protect the family and the gatekeeper to watch for subtle influences that gradual erode the spiritual life of it. Kenaston blows a bold trumpet of alarm against many harmful and destructive influences of our day, such as television, movies, toys, computer games, books, Internet, Christian "rock" music, and children's videos.

Excellent expose on destructive influences in the home!
This sermon is very forward and direct, and I am sure that many people will be offended by its message if they are not willing to listen to the spirit of why the alarm is being sounded. If you are a father or single mother, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you listen to the whole message, and not just tune it out because it goes against the grain of what you've been doing. The spiritual welfare of the family is in view. One point I disagree with is the "Thou shalt not watch tv" stance. While I appreciate the insight of biblical principles behind his application, it becomes a subtle form of legalism if we say everyone MUST do as I do. We are wise to listen to godly counsel, search out the Scriptures, listen to the Spirit, and then act accordingly as ones who will give account to the living God on Judgment Day.
