Audio Sermons : A.W. Tozer :  (1 Peter - Part 27): Who is He That Will Harm you?

(1 Peter - Part 27): Who is He That Will Harm you? by A.W. Tozer

Topic: Fear
Scripture(s): Romans 8:33-39, 1 Peter 3:13
Description: A. W. Tozer strikes a blow against fear. With searing eloquence and sober erudition, Dr. Tozer sets forth an extremely encouraging message for all of Christ’s servants and missionaries. He starts by taking us through Romans 8:33-39 to underscore the bold exhortation of 1 Peter 3:13. Nothing can harm a good man! “Nothing can debase his quality, nothing can reduce his dimensions, nothing can prevent the fulfillment of his destiny, nothing can block the accomplishment of his appointed task, and nothing can lower his value before God and the universe!” With this May 16, 1954 sermon, Pastor Tozer marked one year from the beginning of his 34-part series on Peter’s first epistle. “Who is He That Will Harm You?” is the 27th message, preached at Southside Alliance Church in Chicago, Illinois. It is 38 minutes, 43 seconds in length.

 persecution
I think that when a Christian has to deal with persecution they inevitably have to deal with that part of themselves that really takes offense when they feel "harmed". I can speak for myself that in my past when I've prayed blessing for a person, and they have cursed me back in hopes to try to "harm" me I've felt very angry. This sermon takes the power out of those actions. In fact, he somehow takes the power out of harm in any fashion. When the power and drama is taken out of a situation people are then free to truly love their enemies. This is an excellent sermon.

a Tozer top-ten. Best part starts at the 20th minute
As Sermonindex mentioned, he first builds the case that 'you can't harm a good man'. Typical winsome, home-spun Tozer humor and kindness. But at about the 20th minute he starts some particularly comforting and brilliant devotional applications of this theme. (It may be a little after the 20th minute.) Jim Hitt.

 confidence
This sermon is a strong dipiction of the confidence we hold as being made in God's image, if you ever have concerns about. "Pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned." Only through sin and deceit to ourselves will we be hurt. Great sermon especially for someone who is very self conscience.

 encouraging message against fear
This is such a great message. We have no reason to fear anything because Satan cannot harm us.
