The Apocalypse - Revelation 1:5-20 by Steve Gallagher

Topic: Apocalypse Study
Scripture(s): Revelation 1:5-20
Description: Once John dispensed with the introductory statements, he was able to recount the powerful vision of Jesus Christ that was so overwhelming that he fell in a heap as a dead man. But there was more to this vision than simply a fuller revelation of the Savior. He was given a message that the suffering saints of Asia desperately needed to hear–a message that End Time believers desperately need to hear. And it came through a thundering voice.

(Daniel) Antiochus and Antichrist Revisited by David Guzik

Topic: Antichrist
Scripture(s): Daniel 10-11, Revelation 1:12-16
Description: Daniel saw a great vision of a man clothed very much like the Lord Jesus at the start of Revelation. In this passage we read of an angel coming to Daniel to answer his prayer on the very day that Daniel lifted his hands up to the Lord God , yet this angel was resisted and hindered by demonic forces within the spirit realm, thus the answer didn't get through to Daniel till the 21st day, this is a great lesson in persistent and prevailing prayer as the answer would not have come to Daniel if he had given up on the 19th day, the angelic messenger was of course helped by Micheal who seems to have a protective role over the nation of Israel. In the prophetic vision that is revealed to Daniel the king of the north is the king of Syria and the king of the south the king of Egypt, historically these 2 kings were 2 of Alexander the greats generals which have been mentioned before, and Israel was caught inbetween their disputes, this was just before the reign of Antiochus, the antichristn of the Old Testament.

The Sudden Appearing of Christ by Carter Conlon

Topic: Second Coming
Scripture(s): Malachi 3:1-6, Daniel 10:8-12, Revelation 1:12-18
Description: February 15, 2009 - What is it like when the Lord visits His People? This sudden appearing will come as a strong inner voice of conviction. When the Holy Spirit comes we become aware of the ungodliness of our speech. The closer we get to the presence of Christ the more undone we feel and we are made aware of the grace and mercy that continually covers us. This visitation comes to gives us a heart for the poor and when the Spirit of God is flowing through us spiritual poverty is broken. Christ inside of us will heal us and give us fresh vision of the future.

The Image of God by Carter Conlon

Topic: Idolatry
Scripture(s): Ezekiel 8:1-5, Revelation 1:14-15
Description: October 21, 2007 - When the church of Jesus Christ begins to portray a wrong image of God, it opens the door for uncalled and unfaithful men to take positions as spiritual leaders. The end result of standing before the wrong image of God will lead the people into a theological perspective that is based on human optimism as opposed to sacrifice and truth. The true image of God represents Jesus Christ, the Cross , His sacrifice and all that is Holy. If we are going to know the true image of God, we will be led to a place where we are undone, where everything that we thought we were has to die. We must take joyfully the spoils of all of our religious goods and come before this image of the TRUE and Holy God. It is only in the presence of Jesus Christ that we are turned from image to image by the Glory of God.

A Portrait No Artist Can Paint by C. H. Spurgeon

Topic:
Scripture(s): Revelation 1:16
Description: INTENDED FOR READING ON LORD'S-DAY, JANUARY 3RD, 1897, DELIVERED BY C. H. SPURGEON, AT THE METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, NEWINGTON, ON LORD'S-DAY EVENING, APRIL 26TH, 1885. “He had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” — Revelation 1:16. WHILE reading this description given by John of what he saw in the isle called Patmos, I think you must have noticed that it would be quite impossible for any painter to depict it upon canvas, and equally impossible for any sculptor to embody it in stone or marble. Those who have attempted to copy the lines here given have signally failed; they may paint a picture of the garment down to the feet, and the golden girdle; but the rest, if it be viewed from an artist's aspect, would be found to be incongruous: “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.” No great painter would ever venture to give us a portrait of our Lord with his head and his hair “white like wool, as white as snow.” If he did, it would be quite impossible to depict eyes that were “as a flame of fire.” How would it be possible to make us realize, with the aid of any pen or pencil, that his feet were “like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace”?

Chopping Wood For Father by Carter Conlon

Topic: Grace
Scripture(s): Revelation 2:1-7
Description: Pastor Conlon delivers an extremely personal mesage, where he speaks about his attempts as a teen to gain the favour and love of his own father. He goes on to show how this is in the mentality of many christains that think they can work the're way into the Lord's favour, without realising that we should love God because He first loved us and that we do not need to earn His love and favour because it is already ours in Christ out Lord. One of the best messages I've heard in a long time, it brought me very close to tears, Praise be to God!!!
