Do You Know Him? by C. H. Spurgeon

Topic:
Scripture(s): Philippians 3:10
Description: THE object of the apostle's life-that for which he sacrificed everything: country, kindred, honor, comfort, liberty, and life itself, was, that he might know Christ. Observe that this is not Paul's prayer as an unconverted man, that he may know Christ, and so be saved; for it follows upon the previous supplication that he might win Christ and be found in him. This is the desire of one who has been saved, who enjoys the full conviction that his sins are pardoned, and that he is in Christ. It is only the regenerated and saved man who can feel the desire, “That I may know him.” Are you astonished that a saved man should have such a desire as this? A moment's reflection will remove your astonishment. Imagine for a moment that you are living in the age of the Roman emperors. You have been captured by Roman soldiers and dragged from your native country; you have been sold for a slave, stripped, whipped, branded, imprisoned, and treated with shameful cruelty. At last yon are appointed to die in the amphitheatre, to make holiday for a tyrant. The populace assemble with delight. There they are, tens of thousands of them, gazing down from the living sides of the capacious Colosseum. You stand alone, and naked, armed only with a single dagger-a poor defense against gigantic beasts. A ponderous door is...

The Cross And The Dynamic Of Victory by T. Austin-Sparks

Topic: The Cross
Scripture(s): Philippians 1:29,Philippians 2:5-8,Philippians 3:10
Description: This message was delivered on 07/30/1967 at the Atlantic States Christian Convocation (Wabanna) 1967. The way of victory is the way of the cross. We are to have the same mind and disposition of the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus had the capacity or mind to let go. This was the opposite of Satan whose character was one of possessiveness and unlawful ambition. The Lord Jesus emptied Himself and through His cross destroyed the work of the devil. To have the mind of Christ means that we know how to let go of even our own rights. This is the principle of the cross. The climax of the risen life is the cross. The way of victory is through seeing the Lord Jesus, who is greater than all. There is gain out of loss and life out of death.

The Call Of God - Unity by Zac Poonen

Topic:
Scripture(s): Philippians 2:1-8
Description: One of the most difficult things to do is to make two people one; even Jesus couldn't make two disciples one until the Holy Spirit came from heaven to live in the hearts of men. True unity comes when we see the glory of Jesus, which conforms us to be like Him, where we no longer grumble and complain, boast and compete with other believers.

This is an exhortation to see our brothers and sisters in the same preciousness that the Lord Jesus values them and to act accordingly, not settling for taking people for granted but humbling and emptying ourselves.

The Mind Of Christ by David Wilkerson

Topic:
Scripture(s): Philippians 2:1-8
Description: April 3,2005. Having the mind of Christ is a decision one makes to live as Christ lived among us. Jesus made a covenant with the father to lay down His glory and become a man to minister and not to be ministered to, and as a humble servant to all. A person who has this mind makes like Christ to lay down their own will and to delight to do the will of the father.
