Confessions of a Pharisee by Alan Martin

Topic: Pharisaism
Scripture(s): James 2:8-9
Description: Alan Martin shares his heart with the work that God has been doing in showing area's of pharisaism. There are many hard teachings and doctrines in the Bible yet under all of these things the mercy and love of God are paramount. At times we can "choke" and "judge" others without mercy. May God give us the mercy and love of Christ in our Christian walks. A very searching sermon. Do we REALLY fulfill the royal law? God is after the Pharisee in us, and it is His great mercy to do so to set us free. The danger in being separated to God is to really think you know and judge others critically and keep others away at a distance because they're not as easy to get along with.

What is Worldliness? by J. Vernon McGee

Topic:
Scripture(s): James 3
Description: McGee asks the question “What is Worldliness?” He begins his answer by first dismissing some of the more popular answers such as carnal amusement, running with wrong people, inappropriate dress, preoccupation with money, and neglecting the church. Instead, true worldliness is the jealousy, the pride, the rivalries, and the selfish ambitions we invite into our churches. The sermon ends with a call for renewed consecration to God and humble communion with one another.

28 Principle 24 - Christ the Unity of the Body by Principles For The Gathering of Believers

Topic: Audio Books
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 3, James 4:6, 2 Corinthians 13:5
Description: Denominations, being splintered by slight shades of truth, are not pleasing to God, but rather grieve Him, though like a precious diamond we can see something good in every denomination.404 There is always some truth that one specific denomination knows, believes and preaches that is noteworthy and admirable for us to learn from. Yet overall it is not God’s perfect will for His body to be divided.

69 Chinese House Churches Interview (by brother Denny) by Principles For The Gathering of Believers

Topic: Audio Books
Scripture(s): James 4:9, Revelation 3:20, Mark 4:35-41
Description: This interview was conducted by brother Denny with two brothers who worked and are involved with the rural Chinese underground house Churches where God is doing a vibrant work. He has been building a pure pristine Book of Acts fellowship in House Church networks all over rural China. There is a simplicity to the move of God yet such fervency, love, and desire born in the hearts of these believers. We need to break out of the simple 1 hour church meeting patterns, and start to serve the Lord with full commitment like many of these precious brothers and sisters in the Lord. For many of us the questions and truths that are revealed are very important for us to hear as we gather under the Headship of Jesus Christ in local areas.

The Book of James by Audio Bible NT - KJV

Topic: Audio Bible KJV
Scripture(s): James
Description: The author of this letter introduces himself as "James, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ". Four men in the New Testament bore this name but the writer of this Epistle is usually identified with James who was the leader of the church in Jerusalem. The letter is addressed to the "the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad", and is the most Jewish in style and form of any of the New Testament books. It is not a treatise on Christian theology but rather a practical letter dealing with Christian ethics. James insists that works, not words, are the mark of a disciple.

What is your Life? by J. Vernon McGee

Topic:
Scripture(s): James 4:13,14
Description: A scriptural reminder that this life is brief and uncertain. Yet in a world of uncertainty McGee reminds believers they can be sure of their salvation! Paul’s words are used to sum up this certainty in Jesus Christ: “I know whom I have believed, and I am pursuaded that he able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” The sermon ends with the simple profound invitation. “Come now.”

God’s War on Poverty and Riches by J. Vernon McGee

Topic:
Scripture(s): James 2
Description: Calling attention to the unequal distribution of wealth in this fallen world, McGee observes that both poverty and riches are a curse to men. He exhorts the poor to avoid the pitfalls of sloth and laziness and to value hard work. He exhorts the wealthy to avoid the pitfalls of forming snobbish cliques in church, prideful attitudes, and indifference to the poor. He ends with reminding us from the book of Job, that God is thinking of the poor “in their affliction” and therefore so must we.
