At Ease in Zion by David Legge

Topic:
Scripture(s): Amos 6:1
Description: 'Woe to those that are at ease in Zion!' is the cry that goes out from Amos the prophet of God to the people of God, here in Amos the people of God were even looking for the coming of the Lord, like the church today, and yet Amos says @woah to you!' Pastor Legge puts forward the frightening but necessary question can we be sure of our salvation and walk with God if we are at ease with a dormant church and a dying world all around us. Have we forgotten that the Gospel is an offence and a stumbling block and shouldn't be sugar coated in order to administer to people, we are to be about our Fathers business like our Lord, David just before he slew Goliath asked the terrified men around him 'Is there not a cause?'

Ivory Houses & Fat Cows: The Excessive Nonsense of the Modern Christian Church by Joseph LoSardo

Topic: Sensuality
Scripture(s): Amos 3:13-15, Amos 4:1-5
Description: Israel in the 8th century B.C. was self-satisfied; her churches were full; her people were religious; there was a great deal of activity in her midst; and she believed her material prosperity was evidence of God's favor. But God and His Word had been forgotten, His law forsaken, and His loving grace taken for granted. Instead of the name of the Lord, Israel ran into two towers – their homes and their temples – prosperity and religion – and God promised to destroy both. Once any people begin to amass expensive homes, power over other people, and large incomes, it is easy for them to find their identity in these things. There is a natural tendency for people to consider their security to be in their stuff. They will go to great extremes to protect that which they imagine themselves to have gained by right – and anything that would threaten their power or their status or their revenue – they will act even in immoral ways to maintain what they presume to be rightfully their own. Are we not falling into the same trap? Why should God not sweep away our western materialistic churches?

(Spiritual Dangers) The Danger of Complacency by Don Currin

Topic: Complacency
Scripture(s): Amos 6
Description: There are people who profess to know Christ yet they live carelessly. They do not deny biblical truth, it is simply neglected in their lives. They have a love of pleasure more than a love for God. 1. What it means to be at ease in Zion. 2. The tragic effects of being at ease. 3. The judgement awaiting those at ease. 4. The importance of stirring oneself out of spiritual complacency. Five tests for music: 1. Can you hear the Word of God clearly over the music? 2. Does the music enlarge my vision of the glory of God? 3. Will what I'm listening to produce the fruit of holiness in my life? 4. Does the music communicate sound biblical doctrine? 5. Does the music tend to sedate the mind and make it insensible to God's truth? Contemporary Christian Music (CCM): Amusing Grace, how sensual the sound, that entertained a seeker like me. I once was lost, but now I'm amused; was blind but now I'm deceived.

America Revival Or Ruin by E.A. Johnston

Topic: Revival
Scripture(s): Amos 3
Description: Ernest Johnston gives a powerful plea for true revival in America. He clearly defines the moral decay of the society of America in morals and spirituality. He shows that fallen state of the Church and its lost of power. We need a revival back to the church that has power with God, preaching truth without compromise. He declares that God is sending remedial judgments to America to get the attention of the Church.
