Be filled with the Holy Spirit - part 2 by Jackie Pullinger

Topic: Filled With The Spirit
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 2:13
Description: An excellent teaching on the work of the Holy Spirit. Jackie Pullinger speaks about the spiritual realities she has experienced in her ministry in Hong Kong among drug addicts, prostitutes & criminals and backs those up by Scripture. She makes clear that the Holy Spirit lives in every true Christian from his or her new birth on. This inner work of the Holy Spirit grows character and fruit in the believer. Jackie goes on to describe an additional and complementary gift. It is often called the outpouring of the Holy Spirit or the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This experience is accompanied by the evidence of a personal prayer language (speaking in tongues). The outpouring of the Holy Spirit equips the believer with power to share Jesus with the lost. Jackie emphasizes again that we must share spiritual truth with spiritual words (1 Corinthians 2:13). The message starts with several wonderful testimonies of how God revealed Himself to the lost in the Wall City and how drug addicts came off drugs with no medication and no withdrawal symptoms.

76 Chronological Bible Reading of Scriptures by Principles For The Gathering of Believers

Topic: Audio Books
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 2:13, James 1:22, Psalm 119:11
Description: There is a great need in the body of Christ for consistent reading of the Holy Scriptures in their entirety, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. In this case we are encouraging a chronological reading of the Scriptures. Most of the confusion is created when certain teachers, groups, or denominations take singular verses out of context and compare them with others. Though it is a good spiritual principle to compare spiritual truths with spiritual truths,1139 yet this must all be done in the larger context of God’s Word. Therefore we are encouraging all of God’s saints to have a consistent discipline of reading through the whole Scriptures once a year as a supplemental reading plan.

The Unpredictable Pathway of the Spirit by Carter Conlon

Topic: Holy Spirit
Scripture(s): John 3:1-10, John 21:18, 1 Corinthians 2:14
Description: November 22, 2009 - There is a cry in this message that says, “Don’t be willing to live in mediocrity when the power of Heaven is at your disposal”. The Spirit of God will overshadow all our weaknesses when we choose to let God be God in us. The natural man sees things as unattainable because they are out of his control and he is not willing to let go of the reigns of his life. The spiritual man knows that in and of himself he has no strength but as he gives the reigns of his life over to the Holy Spirit he will step into the supernatural. We don’t have a plan but we will be carried into the future by the Spirit of God.

Freedom From Soulishness by Zac Poonen

Topic: Soulishness
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 2:14-16, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12
Description: Beginning with an explanation that soulishness is a topic many may not understand until later in their Christian walk, this sermon explains the dynamic of allowing biblical truth to hit the bedrock of the Christian’s will as opposed to the sandier extremes of dry intellect or meaningless emotionalism. He offers a balanced view on how to determine what soulishness is, and says that we must learn to allow the sword of the spirit to divide that which is of the soul from that which is of the Spirit, in order that we may fly out of this snare.

Thanksgiving of Paul for the Saints by David Smithers

Topic: Thanksgiving
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 1:4, Philemon 1:4, Philippians 1:3-6
Description: "[Paul's] thankfulness and his perspective about people that he was ministering to," David Smithers shares, "gave him the power to influence and have authority in people's lives." He goes on to share how a heart of gratefulness and thankfulness, not griping and complaining, is what consumed the apostle. Do we have those same apostolic priorities in our relating to brothers and sisters in Christ's body?

Why Should I Turn from Sin? by Carter Conlon

Topic: Forsaking Sin
Scripture(s): 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Description: May 17, 2009 - Salvation is not just forgiveness, it’s a way out of sin. Undealt with sin turns life into death and turns our life into something so much other than what God planned for us. Sin knows no boundaries and drives us farther and harder than where we want to go. How do we turn from sin? We turn from sin when we return to Christ and allow a living loving God to envelope us and break the power of sin in our lives. In Christ the deepest longings of our heart are satisfied. God is calling you to come home to Him!
