Summary of sermon by Erlo Stegen, 09 Nov 2014

(Before the service David Kid gave a testimony of how God has worked in his life and renewed everything. He also shared from Daniel 12:3, 10
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

This is a wonderful word. The righteous will cleanse their lives that their garments are spotless. But the unrighteous will not understand and continue to do evil. )

Gen 21:6

6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

They were both old. Sarah wasn't a young girl anymore. And Abraham was old too. But God promised them a son.

When she bore a son, she said people will laugh with me. And so she rejoiced as an old woman, nursing her child.

No one could have imagined or predicted it to happen. It was supernatural. God did it. They trusted God and took Him at His word.

These days it's said that after 40 it's very risky to have a child and if you're not too much older it's impossible.

Just as Sarah laughed so we laugh too because of the Lord Jesus having come into our lives. We were barren and withered, dead in our sins, but Jesus came and brought us life. Now we can display the fruits of righteous.

The Bible says my heart is full of joyous laughter because I've found salvation through the Lord Jesus.

In Hebrews 11 we read of the faith of Abraham and Sarah.

Even if you're depressed because of your sin, when Jesus comes He transforms you and fills you with joy and gladness.

When Mr Dube came to Christ he said that now he can laugh with his wife and family. Before that, when he earned his money he would go drinking and others would then steal all his money and he would bring nothing home. When he would go home, as soon as they heard him coming they would hide and try and get away from him. But when God met and transformed him everything changed. He cared for his family and had joy.

Story of German poet Gute seeing a huge tree with tiny fruit, but the pumpkin runner with the huge fruit. He thought on it and told God that it's a mistake to have the huge tree with the tiny fruit but the pumpkin runner with the huge fruit. But then one of the tiny fruit of the tree fell on his nose. Then he cried out, 'o the wisdom of God. What would I have looked like if it was a huge pumpkin.'

1Sam 2:1

1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

If you've found real salvation you will rejoice. This is the song of a person that's saved.

If you realise your lost estate on your way to hell without Christ, and you receive an invitation from the King of kings to save you, and you don't rejoice because of that, you're still on your way to hell.

If youve accepted that invitation, you will enjoy the delights of the King of Heaven. You don't need the temporary delights of this world. You feel like jumping without a trampoline.

Then you will have joy unspeakable.
