In the book of Exodus, chapter 14, Moses and millions of Israelites started a journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. They had to travel a long distance. But there was a big problem in front of them. Right in front of them was the Red Sea. There was no other way for them to go. How would they move ahead? If they decided not to move ahead and stay there, the army of Pharaoh which was behind them would soon catch up. What could they do? If we think in a human way, we will not find a solution.
Only a miracle could solve the problem. Moses and the Israelites looked up and prayed to the Lord. God said, “Moses, raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.”
Moses obeyed the Lord. They crossed the sea on dry land. Miracles succeed in places where logic fails. This is an incident from history.
In the first chapter of Genesis, it says that, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The Bible says that God created all the visible and invisible things by His word, not from any earthen materials. When he spoke, the sun, moon, stars and planets were created.
Genesis narrates the story of another person named Abraham, who was 100 years old. His wife was 90 years old and they had no children. But God told them “I will give you children.” It was impossible in a human way. It was absurd. But they believed in God’s Word. In the book of Romans, chapter 4, it says that “faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness”. Abraham had a son named Isaac.
Once a husband and wife wrote to me, “We don’t have child even after nine years of marriage. We consulted a number of doctors and went to many hospitals. We experimented many ways and spent millions. But everything was in vain.”
One day when they listened to an Athmeeya Yathra radio program, the broadcast addressed those who did not have children. That day during the broadcast, I read a letter from a couple who was blessed with a child after five years of marriage. Before praying I said to the listeners, “You also believe; God will do miracles for you too.”
The testimony of the family who wrote that letter stirred up the belief of the childless couple. They started to pray with faith. After one year I received a letter from them saying, “God gave us a daughter.”
