All the great epochs of divine providence and manifestation in the world have been preceded by great prayer, and it would seem that just previous to the coming of the Lord all holy souls in heaven and in earth will be drawn in vehement intercessions and longings for Christs appearing.
All down the ages, whenever God has come forth from His hiding place to make bare His arm in judgment, or manifest His glory and reveal His Presence, the Holy Spirit has preceded such events by moving on Gods elect--great burdens of prayer.
All these instances combined indicate that enormous tides of prevailing prayer will set in upon the saints of God both in heaven and on earth just previous to the second coming of the Lord.
John tells us that he saw the souls of the saints in paradise, and heard them pray, and the burden of their prayer was, "How long, O Lord?" (Rev. 6:10).
The petition in the Lords prayer, "Thy kingdom come," will have to be focalized into tenfold fervor by all the saints on earth (Matt. 6:10).
The Holy Spirit will send a simultaneous wave of prayer to all pious hearts throughout the world. There will be secret longings and heart pinings, and a sweet outlook of anticipation in the minds of all the saintly ones, for the coming of their infinite Lover, similar to the pining desire that Anna and Simeon had to see the precious infant Saviour (Luke 2:25-38).
