It is of no use for us to criticize, condemn and point the finger of scorn at one another. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Some of us have more light than others. Some have sinned in one way and some in other ways, but ALL have sinned. Daniel confessed over and over, "WE have sinned" (Daniel 9:5,8,11,15). Listen to Nehemiah: "WE have sinned against Thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned. WE have dealt very corruptly against Thee" (Nehemiah 1:6-7).

It is a masterstroke of Satan to stir up Christians to criticize one another. Job and his friends got nowhere while they were engaged in their heated debates and charges and countercharges. Job did not get anywhere with God until he acknowledged that he himself, Job, had failed God miserably.

In Isaiah chapter 5, Isaiah said, "Woe unto THEM..." In Isaiah the 6th chapter, where fresh blessings are to come upon the prophet, he said, "Woe is ME." "The putting forth of the finger" (Isa. 58:9) is one of the things specifically mentioned as necessary to be taken away before God will move freely among His people.

Not only will criticism of others get us entirely off the track in seeking Revival, but also we need to know that not everyone has faith for revival, and it is useless to waste time and to get "out of the Spirit" in attempting to convince them to the contrary. Love your enemies and opposers, and instead of arguing with them, spend your time in seeking God till the event proves that God is with you.

The 120 before Pentecost were praying and praising God--not arguing with people. Gideon and the 300 did not preach a sermon to those who left--but went ahead and got a revival started. David lost no time trying to convince his older brother that there would be a revival, rather, by God’s help, he went right after Goliath and got a revival started (1 Samuel 17:28-29).

The lukewarm will be spewed out, but God will not spew out the overcomers who, with flaming testimony, prepare the way for Christ’s second coming--as John the Baptist did for His first appearing. "According to your faith be it unto you" (Matthew 9:29). In Gideon’s day, of the 10,000 who did believe there could be a revival, only 300 were ready to pay the price. Cast not your pearls before swine. If God has taken you up to a mount of transfiguration and given you a revelation of a mighty coming revival, perhaps He is saying to you, "Tell the vision to no man"--force it on no one, till the Revival breaks!

It is NOW high time that we assemble ourselves together and seek the Lord till He comes among us in Revival power. We must sacrifice time, money, ease, comfort, opinions, self-will, ideas, notions, feelings, preferences, prejudices, human affections, and seek God till He comes and rains righteousness upon us (Hosea 10:12).

"Gather My saints together unto Me; those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice" (Psa. 50:5). "I have chosen this place to Myself for an house of sacrifice" (2 Chron. 7:12). "Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:33).

Let us begin at once to do those things which God has pointed out as essential preliminaries to revival! God is a covenant-keeping God. In Joel 2:17 He has stated certain conditions for revival, and until we meet these conditions, the heavens will remain as brass--but as we fulfill our part of the covenant--He is pledged to fulfill His part and send revival!
