Always Praying And Never Giving Up
Revelation 2:25
By W. C. Moore

When God has shown us something that He is going to do, we should never let down in faith until He has fulfilled what He has promised. “Cast not away therefore your confidence…For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:35-36).

God promised Abraham a son and heir but Abraham had to wait for years before this promise was fulfilled. In fact, Abraham was “as good as dead” (Hebrews 11:8-12) before God fulfilled this promise. Abraham “considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old…Being fully persuaded that, what He (God) had promised, He was able also to perform” (Romans 4:13-24).

“Ye have need of patience [cheerful endurance]” (Hebrews 10:36). We should have such confidence in God, such trust in His faithfulness that we will joyfully as well as expectantly await His answer.

“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient” (James 5:7-8).

For the encouragement of those who have been persistently and faithfully praying for God to do something to take away the reproach from among His people, but who have not as yet seen a full answer to their prayers. I am describing a dream or vision God gave some years ago, which has been a tremendous encouragement to me and which I pray will be used of God to encourage others to keep on praying and believing until God sends a mighty Holy Ghost revival!

I attended a meeting one night and someone sang a solo, the chorus of which was, “Then oh, what a weeping and wailing, when the lost were told of their fate! They cried for the rocks and mountains; they prayed, but their prayer was too late!”

As I went home, this chorus kept ringing in my soul. I awoke about 1 a.m., after retiring, and had a burden of prayer for about an hour. Then I fell asleep again, and about 5 o’clock I awoke just as a dream I had came to a close.

A Sudden Explosion

In my dream I saw some children making a fire in what appeared to be an old keg. Suddenly there was a very loud explosion--so loud, in fact, that it seemed to wake me up. Then as I was wondering what caused the explosion, God gave me a vision: I saw a small, hollow, closed cylinder of iron, half full of water. This iron cylinder had been in the fire.

As the fire was kept burning by the children, the water inside the cylinder was gradually turned into steam. As the children continued to keep the fire burning, the steam pressure became so great that suddenly it burst the iron cylinder and caused the terrific explosion. Until the explosion took place, there was nothing in the outside appearance of the cylinder to indicate that the fire was having any affect whatsoever on it.

When the explosion occurred, I saw a great black object blown through a large brick building and out into the back alley. The Spirit of God seemed to say to me that the black object represented the devil, and that when the mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit takes place, the devil is going to be utterly defeated, and put out in the back alley, so to speak.

A Scripture came very vividly to my mind, “And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily” (Luke 18:7-8).

Then I understand that the iron cylinder with water in it and the children keeping the fire burning under it, represented the prayers of God’s people, which so far as any outward evidence is concerned, seem to be having no effect. But God is holding all these burning prayers under pressure--until the point is reached when He can answer then suddenly, all at once, and do a great and mighty thing in a sudden outpouring of His Spirit!

The keg was blown to pieces by the explosion, possibly indicating the tearing apart of sectarian barriers between God’s true children when the great explosion of God’s power takes place. I saw a large iron pot, partly in the fire, which now, after the explosion, was turned over partly on its side--indicating the overturning of the “doctrinal pot,”--the cessation, practically, of doctrinal differences among those who are going all the way to the standard of God’s perfection.

Flames of Fire

After the explosion I noticed that the fire was still burning in the place where the children had built it, but there was no smoke now (no fighting among God’s true people). I saw three clear, bright flames pointing toward the East. I understood that this indicates that when God sends great revival, the children of God will witness with clear, untarnished testimony and life--as flames of fire--pointing toward the East; that is, witnessing to the soon coming of the Lord (Matt. 24:27).

Might God encourage us to keep on praying--keep on believing, never faint--knowing that He is faithful who has promised to pour out His Spirit--to answer prayer--that the harvest of souls shall be gathered in, and His people prepared for the Coming of the Lord!

Let every child of God do his or her part in filling up the “golden vials full of odours (margin, incense) which are the prayers of saints” (Rev. 5:8), so that in a deluge of His power, God may empty out these vials in a mighty Holy Ghost Revival and answer thousands of pent-up prayers in a Last Day Pentecost “upon all flesh” (Joel 2:1-32). Suddenly!

“Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the Lord whom ye seek shall suddenly come to His temple (Mal. 3:1).
